Having fit issues with your new Hoji boots? It’s probably because your liners have not been molded properly. The Sidas liners in Hoji’s need to be heated differently than a lot of other liners on the market. That’s because they have denser foam to drive the stiffer shell and hopefully for longevity as well.

These Sidas liners need to be moulded at 110 deg Celsius for 10 minutes in an oven (not on the blower stacks that many boot fitters use on other liners. The stacks do not get hot enough!). Always use toe caps when you do this. The toe caps actually seat your heal correctly at the back of your liner and help create extra toe space for warmth and comfort

Here’s what you do:

Heat liners (110 degrees for 10 minutes). Remove from oven. Put foot beds in. Insert liner carefully into the shell. Wearing thin socks, padding and toe caps, step into the boots and pull up the back of the liner while positioning heal. Make sure all layers of the boot shell and liner are sitting properly (watch the velcro-ed tongue is in position). Lock boots into ski mode and do up all buckles and the power strap. Wear until cool (around 15 min.). You can use a 2x4 under the toes to help set your heal and stand more comfortably.

Problem areas (protrusions, ankle bones, sixth toes, etc) should be padded with extra padding under your sock, say 2-3mm like corn pads or thick mole skin.

Once cool, open the ski/walk lever and walk around for a while to get full movement out of them.

Now go skiing!
